Protest Persuasion as Haute Couture
15th December 2009
In a prior post, I offered a persuasion analysis of protest persuasion (on nuclear weapons) and suggested that protest persuasion is not persuasion, but mere expressiveness. Today, compliments of Copenhagen, we have more of the same.
Dancing Polar Bears. Reminds me of the Dancing Ito’s. (at 2:17).

Here. This would look better on Melanie (a blonde) than me.

Cute and cuddly Panda bears.

And, what you can do with a degree in persuasion.

I appreciate the sheer fun and the animating nuances just beneath the surface of this, but from a persuasion perspective, the attempt is foolish, self-indulgent, and entirely Sincere. It will not change the changeable and only polarize the certains.
Indeed, protest is probably better understood not as Sincere, Bad Persuasion, but rather as Fashion. It’s what the smart people are doing, saying, and most importantly, wearing this year.
