History of the Book

In 1996 I published online a persuasion textbook I'd written as an introduction to persuasion theory and research based on teaching I'd done since 1988. This Primer was (to my knowledge) the first online persuasion book and attracted attention and use on the Web. In 2006 I revised and expanded the Primer after spending a few years working in the Federal government as a scientific administrator. Then in the spring of 2008 I significantly revised this material for a trade book which became "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Persuasion." If the book is successful, I may get the opportunity to revise it yet again in a few years.
